Re: String gauge of choice( please participate )

I used to use Pure Blues 11s, but had to quit playing for 1.5 years due to work-related RSI. Now that I'm playing again, I've gone down to 10s. I'm also using different guitars and amps these days, so I went with Tite Fits.

Err, guess it depends on the tuning for me I guess.
For my 7 strings tuned to B standard, which is mainly what I use, I'm using 9-42+56. Minus the 56 for a 6 string tuned to E standard.
For something like C# standard (6 string), 11-49.

Re: String gauge of choice( please participate )

Seems like we do this every two weeks. 12-54 Dunlop heavy cores, C#/open C/drop B tunings. I'm looking for a 10-50 set for standard.

Wow sorry about the ridiculous picture size, but I'm not sorry enough to fix it :naughty:

My set of choice, EB 11-52 w/ wound G:

These are good too, for going a bit lighter:

labella 13 to 56 on my es335 and labella 15-56 flatwounds on my es175.
After i wear out the next set of 13s, Im thinking i might drop the 335 down to 12s tho because the 15 flatwounds are easier to play than the 13 roundwounds. 11 is too light for what i like, so hopefully 12s will be just about right. Im keen to try pyramids.

Re: String gauge of choice( please participate )

I use 9's on electrics these days, but if my fingers were stronger like they use to, I would still use 11's.

I've tried about every brand out there and to my ears, and I prefer GHS. They don't sound as bright as others and they last me a long time.

Re: String gauge of choice( please participate )

I use Darco 10-46 gauge strings on all of my electrics. For my acoustic I use 11-52 Ernie Ball, Earthwood strings.

Re: String gauge of choice( please participate )

.09 D'addario. All my guitars are 25.5 inch Scale. I want to get Gibson scale too on that I would probably use .10s.

Re: String gauge of choice( please participate )

For the most part I use 10-48 Thomastik-Infeld blues sliders. They are a pure nickel wrap with
a silk inlay on the wound strings. They sound and feel amazing and have a very long life. Gauges
are 10,13,16,28,37,48.

For acoustics I use Thomastik-Infeld Spectrum 11-52 sets.

The only downside to Thomastik strings is the price...they are a little hard on the wallet.

Elixir or D'addario, 9-42 for me. I always try 9-46, 10-46, 10-52, and end up going back to 9-42.

Re: String gauge of choice( please participate )

I like 9-46 best. Are they 9s or 10s? :naughty:

D'Addario, Ernie Ball or Rotosound.

Re: String gauge of choice( please participate )

10-46 Elixers for the longest time. Currently trying 1046 Cobalts and D'Dario 10-46s as well.
