I have always used D'addario .10's But next string change I am trying something new like the Slinky Cobalts.

I use Dean Markley Blue Steel 10-46s on my main guitar, a 24.75" scale BC Rich USA Warlock NT standard.

I use 9-42s on the longer scale BC Rich Virgin since that has a 25.5" scale. I think the scale vs the string gauge seems to balance between the two guitars.

I also use 10s on the 24.75" Washburn Dime 333.

For acoustic, I use Dean Markley Alchemy 11-52s on a 25.5" length Alvarez-Yairi. The string tension is massive on that guitar compared to my electrics.

.010 to .046 D'Addario and GHS Burnished Nickel. Had some coated D'Addarios and they seemed to act like a thicker gauge string and started chewing up my fingertips.

Only want is a slightly thinner G string, but I'll live with it. Hope it won't chafe.

I've got a guitar incoming next week with Elixirs so I'll see how those are.

on a vast majority of my guitars, ernie ball 11 gauge, i think theyre 11-48. regardless of scale length, tuning, whatever, if its 6 strings its 11s. my 7 string is ernie ball 10's though, but thats more because of the 27 inch scale

used to use stricly 9's. spending alot of time playing acoustic changed that, i went to 10's with no problem. Most of the top hard rock guys used 10s, there's alot more tone than 9's. I also find cheaper sets and experiment with custom gauges if needed.

I voted other--as far as electrics go, I use 9's, 10' or 11's depending on the guitar.

D'Addario 9's for me, thank you. I bend constantly, like there's no tomorrow. For my style, to get every nuance, I need complete and utter control from my strings without them fighting back. I'm doing deep bends and otherwise wrestling with my strings, like Jimmy Page and Peter Green in their prime. I don't just want to play guitar, I want to play like them, with wild bends and fast vibrato.

Everything being equal, thicker strings have more 'tone.' But...you can use magnets, pots, resistors, and amp settings to get where you want to be tonewise with light strings. Get the gauge your comfortable with and you can adjust the other variables.

I change gauges to the extreme often. It seems like I can never stick to one gauge. I just basically went from 13s to 8s.

Ernie ball nickel wound slinky 10-46 warm and balanced, great tuning and smooth attack; i felt this ones a bit strangled and lacking harmonics on my Godin will try in the RG.

Ernie ball titanium coated 10-46 rich, smooth, good definition/harmonics and output for being coated strings. I found this set fat sounding on the RG.

Rotosound yellows 10-46 very rich, smooth, sing sounding and great output on my guitars. Full and open.

I´m on the way to try pure nickels from ernie and rotosound.

I use GHS boomers for everything. 10's for my Superstrat and, under normal circumstances, 11's for my LP. The band I'm in now tunes down to C, so atm there's GHS-Lows on it, 11 - 53.

I've been doing 9s on 25 1/2" scale and 10s on 24 3/4", but I think I'm going to move to all 9s. Actually I bought a set of 10 Custom Lites (9-46), so I'm not sure but I voted 9s.

E std and Eb = 46-9 D std and C# = 52-10 on 24 3/4 scale.
