Struttin' SGs

Re: Struttin' SGs

going to route out a switch? or drop in a push-pull

My vote is Push-pull. Drilling for a mini switch would be easy, but if it were me I would make all the mods as easy to reverse as possible.

@ErikH- I liked the switch placement.

Thanks. I didn't want to go with a push/pull as that would have meant removing wood so the pot would fit and not stick out the back. I wasn't fully comfortable with that. And, I didn't want to drill a hole on the front for a toggle switch. Crusty gave me the idea for the slide switch. I had to make that back plate myself too.

Re: Struttin' SGs

Truly my first love! I bought Jessica in 1969 from a good friend of mine. I was with him when he bought it new & made him promise me that if he sold it, he would sell it to me. About a year later he did! I've had here ever since. About 1973 or 74 I replaced the tuners with grovers. I still have the originals. About 10 years ago I replaced the original nylon saddles with graphite(the originals were done) and about a year ago she got new frets. She was my only electric guitar from 1969 until 1987 when I bought my first Strat! Absolutely magnificent playing & sounding guitar. Lots of gigs under her belt!

Dang, I almost wish I was a lefty because SGs look too cool when they are lefties. All the forum members who are southpaws will probably rip me apart for saying that though lol, but all the guitars I want are very available in left handed models.

Re: Struttin' SGs

2008 Feb. Guitar of the Month, SG Diablo. This guitar is one of the special ones. It'll always be a primary player. Incidentally, I bought it on the day Ronnie James Dio passed away, and it turned out to be my birth month, on the year I got married. It's a guitar that's part of my destiny. I even went to Dio's Memorial in Burbank a few weeks later.

Gold UOA5 Custom 5, Burstbucker 1. It has an amber switch tip now, and the bone nut was shaped and polished by Trutone Music's Paul Flynn.
