Stunned......

After being away from home for a few months, today was the first chance I've really had to crank up my amps.

I spent quite a bit going back and forth between the Laney and Rectifier (it sounds killer when both are running BTW). The thing that stunned me is that I now like the Laney more. I still love the Recto, but it's sound is just not where I'm at musically....it's become too modern sounding for where I'm going.

Someone once told me that Laney high gain is one of the most natural sounding high gains.....and I'm really starting to believe it.

yep.. thats what i think too.

opeth, gilbert, freak kitchen... especialy opeth on their last record, have realy organic sounding distortion. one of the best evar!

If Opeth and Freak Kitchen aren't the most natural high gain tones I have heard, I honestly don't know what is.

It is great to have choices. I also like bouncing back and forth between amps.

I used to have a Laney back in the late 1980's. I can't remember the model but it was very crunchy yet smooth. Someone stole it and I never replaced it. What could have been...:yell: Now I have had a Triaxis for 12 years and that takes my mind off of it. I always have wanted to get another Laney, I've always love their tones :dance:

You should hear a Laney and Rectifier running side by side in person. Instant hard on, but way too much sh*t to lug around.

Oh I can imagine. I played through a VHT and Dual Rectifier today at the same time, talk about cool ****!
