Re: Style points!

Those Yamaha 1212s are AMAZING guitars. I played one once, and I seriously wanted to buy it right off the guy but obviously I don't have the money. Really nice vibrato system, it came with stock active pickups and they were the best active pickups I've ever played, had an exceptional feel, and sounded as good as it felt.

I will have one eventually.

Yeah they are good. I had a chance to buy one for dirt cheap but recommended it to a poor friend instead. I especially like the style jack, I was thinking i might do something similar on my builds.

Hows the scollop job on the stock Yamaha RGX 621D...

Re: Style points!

I like the crackle finishes that the ec29 has. Used to have a gtx23, black with white sparkle crackle.

Re: Style points!

Tell me I have bad taste, but I do like this headstock - just not on the guitar Gibson decided to put it on:

Re: Style points!

Always liked the Roland 707 made by Ibanez "supposedly" the bar on top helped transfer resonance from the neck to the body. I think that is bull it just looked cool. Still it is one of my bucket list guitars.

Not sure about tone transfer, but to me it appears to have been inspired by Harp Lutes from the 1600s onward.

I owned one of these back in the '80s and my understanding was that the bar was to help deaden the resonances, thereby assisting with better tracking for the MIDI pickup and associated electronics. It makes more sense to have less resonance rather than more for accurate MIDI tracking in my view.

Re: Style points!

These are two of my favorites out of all the stuff I've played:

Both of those guitars just made me smile holding them. They're unique and beautiful instruments. I actually owned a French made Rusty Holey Steelcaster (with the perforated front and back) for a few weeks, but it had some stability problems (probably was abused a lot of years since it was purchased through GC).
