Suddenly this pedal exists: Line6 DLA4 Mk II

Pic in the wild next to the og. I thought it was smaller.

I think they needed to keep the 4 switches the same distance apart, so it doesn't mess up the ergonomics. They did eliminate the battery compartment, so it should be lighter, too.

That makes sense. Yes, having those switches too close would be a bad idea.

I really thought about it, then decided against it for now. I have an HX Effects, which has almost all of the new DL4 contained within it, as well as an M9, which has the original DL4, and an actual original DL4. So, right now, too much overlap.

I ordered the old one because I wanted the original that started it all. How can I fully appreciate the new one if I don’t know what life was like for millions of guitarists before it became available?

The original DL4 is indeed a classic. It deserves all the praise it gets.

Hmm, my switch mod was over 10 years ago. I replaced the stock actuators (and the tiny PC mounted switches) with real soft-touch switches. Now you see other companies offering a 'switch mod' for old DL4s.

Why buy the old version when the new version has all of the old version goodies and more? :D

The new one lacks the vintage looks and mojo of the original.

Agree on the look aspect but have to disagree on the mojo because the original pedal resides within the newbie...but I get what you are saying.

Side note, have you purchased the new colors of the Strymon's?
