Suddenly this pedal exists: Line6 DLA4 Mk II

Actually, the ouptuts of the original DL4 have this weird 'phasey' thing going on, that isn't replicated in the HX Effects, M-series, or Helix. It is part of the reason why I love the original DL4. No idea if they replicated that weirdness in the new DL4.

I've had the experience, multiple times, of buying an updated version of a piece of gear and trying to replicate the exact same sound in the newer version didn't sound exactly the same as the original in a side-by-side comparison. Either they changed some component specs, or changed the architecture / circuit design or changed component vendor/brands and the result was noticeable, though probably not obvious to all people. Either the sweep of the modulation wasn't the same, or the depth wasn't as deep, or the quality of the repeats wasn't the same, either brighter and thin or darker or unclear, or whatever. But stuff changes and if the part you liked changed, you'll notice.

To be fair, I never did an A/B with the old/new DL4s. I have with the same algorithms of the M9 and HX Effects, and the DL4 sounds better to me.

It's been out for a month or so. Many places have sold out of their first shipments already, but they should be re-stocked by now.
