What amp?
You can do hardcore anything with pickups like a Custom or hotter. There are some good metal suggestions here. A Pegasus/Sentient set is a good idea, too.

Assuming an SSS - just get Hotrail's and be done

If HSS, just get a Duncan 103 and be done.

If the Carvin and the pickups can't do it, the problem is not the gear.

Optionally, Just get a Metal Zone.

Get a HH pickguard, 1 volume, 3-way switch, and DiMarzio X2N's in the neck and bridge. Be done with it and crank it!

Just installed a Black Winter set in my Jackson Dominion (25.5" scale, neck-thru, chambered body) tuned down a full step and it sounds great. I'd recommend starting there and using that as a baseline for what you may want more of less of.
