Suggest some low-wattage tube amps for me

Re: Suggest some low-wattage tube amps for me

check out the hughes and kettner edition tube 20 if you can, the cleans are pretty awesome on mine, IMO.

I was pleasantly surprised by that little tube combo. Knowing Krankguitarist, I think the H&K Edition 20 is right up his alley. I'd love to find one of those used in the recycler.com for cheap. Even the gain channel is nice.

Definitely a tough one to find though. I'll see if I cant search around a bit for that one.

I really like my hughes and kettner 20th edition aniversary 20 watts tube, it has a really nice clean sound. And a warm overdrive/mid gain and useable hi gain sounds. Tight bass with a warm midrange. And you get good tube break up at moderate volume.

I've been eyeballing The Dr.Z Carmen Ghia for some time now. I want the head version, but i think i comes in combos aswell?

Very neat little 18-watt 2xEL84 amp. Only 2 controls for volume and tone. The tone control is interesting because it doesn't just roll off the highs. It goes from thin to full. Very useful.

The guys who make the Xotic pedals have these "Reatily Web Videos" where some pretty serious studio guys show them off. In one of these, Dean parks also shows this little head off.

Enjoy

Re: Suggest some low-wattage tube amps for me

Well, I just picked up a Hughes and Kettner edition tube 20 from a forum member round here: Destroying Angel. Got a great deal on it. Gonna send off a MO within the next couple of days and I'll have it pretty soon :)

As for right now, I've also picked up an old Fender Showman reverb for about 400 bucks. My GAS has transformed into AAS. I either need to stop buying amps or start buying a hell of a lot more.
