Suggestions for a HSS Strat conversion.. with P90s kind-a sound in the neck

Hi.

I suppose this has been already talked too much, but I couldn't find too much information on the forum, so I'm risking to open a new thread.

I'm looking to upgrade mi SSS Jimmie Vaughan strat to a HSS fat strat, but the sounds that I'm after are a little off the traditional scoope:

I'm after the following:

NECK.- THe more P90 sound possible from a NOISLESS strat sized pickup. (love how this sounds: https://youtu.be/V_OV05WzcBM?t=4m17s) I know that I'll never get that sound but as near as I can get will be good enough.

BRIDGE.- Humbucker with a low-medium output (something in the Hard Rock territory, which adds mids and bottom end to the strat without been loose. Around 8.5k will be enough I think)

MIDDLE.- Whatever balances good with the bridge and neck... has to be noisless pickup.

I did my search and so far this is what I've come up with:

NEck.- STK-S6?? Maybe?
MIddle.- STK-s4??
BrIDGE.- PA-TB3B Blues Sarraceno Parallel Axis, TB-59 Trembucker, Suhr SSV or Thornbucker ...

Kinman pickups are out of the question since are way too expensive for me to import.

Main point is that the pickups must be noisless, whiche leaves the SSL4 QP pickups out too. I'm looking to find which pots to use with this setup, from my personal experience I would say that 500k for all pots but advice will be much appreciated on this topic too.

So what do you think about this? THanks to all for reading and suggestions.

Cheers!

You can get a Quarter Pound stack made in the Custom Shop, that should be a pretty good P90 sound in a Strat size (and noiseless). I don't think it could ever be 100% P90 sounding because of the size, but it might sound closer than the hotter STK-S6. The STK-S4 is a great choice for the middle. I like the PA in the bridge, and it would be a very cool, unique guitar.

I don't think it could ever be 100% P90 sounding because of the size.

... and the coil proportions ... and six rod magnets versus two bar magnets ... and the fact that a 25.5" scale, screw-on neck guitar is not a 24.75" scale, set neck.

Thanks MIncer for your time in answering the post. I wasn't aware that the QP could be ordered as Noisless in the Custom Shop. I'll approach SD to get an estimate of the $.

FunkFingeres you can add the fact that I don't have the same hability to play guitar, or the same amps and the same pedals in the same acoustic room... zzzzzzzzz..There is a reason why pickups like the Big-NineO or the StraBro 90 exist. The chase is there, it'll not be the same but that doesn't concern me. How about been positive and add instead trolling..??

Cheers!!

If you think that is trolling, report me.

Go right ahead. Make my day.

Keep your strat a strat, add a set of custom shop N3s, get a SD Pickup Booster. Buy a LP within your budget and loaded with SD SH-4 and SH-2n. With that combination of gitfiddles you'll get every tone you want an much more.

As far as pots with the QP, start with 250k, then go to 500k if those are lacking some brightness. If you are using the Stack Plus pickups, use 250k. Those should be bright enough.

You are welcome Goldwing. But I would be very surprised if you couldn't find what you are looking for with the recommendations I made.
Best of luck in your quest.

For a first thread newbie with (currently) a post count of four, you seem very well acquainted with my forum writings. :scratchch

I am afraid that, being English, I am unable to do the unremitting optimism thang.

On a positive note, I rather like the way that your posts are typed in cod Mexican-English vernacular.

If I actively wanted to troll you, I would now post inflammatory remarks about low-price Chinese-made music equipment.

Not to beat a dead horse but listen to the N3s and notice he is playing primarily on the bridge setting. Neck + Bridge and or Neck + Middle would be even closer to the sound your youtube link has:

Re: Suggestions for a HSS Strat conversion.. with P90s kind-a sound in the neck

It sounds really close!. I'm sorry I did research the N3 when you made the post but couldn't find too much about them. Do you think a Medium Output Humbucker will match good with a couple of N3 in mid and neck? Seems to me that they could match better with vintage output humbucker like the 59 Trembucker..
