It's a DC-5 not a recto and I went as far as bass on 1, treble and prescense are always on 10, with the emgs i set the bass around 5.

Thing is with the EMGs is killer, the best metal tone I've had... but up until now with everything else is OD pedal to cut the bass or no metal at all

Anderson H3+ or HN3+, depending on preference. Closest thing to a passive EMG i've ever tried, and a GREAT match with a DC5.

I'll see about andersons, don't know if I'll be able to get them thru ebay or something in this side of the world tho.

Question: have you played around with preamp tube brands?.. I'm really hoping a tungsol in v1 will help

While the Aldrich is def really tight, it was one of the more stiff pickups I had and I ultimately got rid of it. It had an almost plasticky pick attack that I couldn't jive with.

The L500XL and DD are both basically as tight but feel better to me And have more Juice.

Aldrich is it's own thing and cool, but it's also a honeymoon pickup I think.

ive had both the 81 and the DD in several different guitars. I like the distortion way better. I think they are both equally as tight in the bottom end but the DD has a much better sound to me. Much smoother all around. If you could think of a sound being gritty, that would describe the 81. it is definitely an aggressive pickup but when you play a DD for a while then pick up the 81 and play it right after you will know what I am talking about. The distortion is the most brutal passive pickup ive ever heard and it absolutely slays with drop tunings. love it
