Suhr in the process of getting bought out.

Re: Suhr in the process of getting bought out.

With over $10million in annual revenue the $11million sale sounds kinda low...granted it is not Net Income but still seems kinda low...

Could be good or bad. Cash flow to expand the business, or they could be sucked dry and killed off.

Suhr's CBS era. :bigthumb:

This worries me.

I've never played a Suhr but from what I've seen and heard they are exceptional guitars. I hope this doesn't become the "CBS Era" of the company nor hope that they get sucked dry and killed off.

I first heard of them from watching Guthrie Govan but now he is using Charvel (and his signature model is awesome!)

Re: Suhr in the process of getting bought out.

This is weird. Is John Suhr leaving the business?

Re: Suhr in the process of getting bought out.

they say things will "stay the same."

Ive heard that before...

Now i wish i wouldnt have passed up chances to buy Surh's Stay the same or not there will be extra demand for those build before the "change".

Oh and iam going to call it now, In less than 3 years we will see a lower end line of "import" Surhs

There's already the Rasmus

That's what my take on it will be...brand name with good recognition getting offered at imported price. Kinda like Fender with Charvel and Jackson having a custom shop along with varying levels of affordable imports (well...I guess they already were doing this even before Fender.)

Re: Suhr in the process of getting bought out.

Not to be political but, economically we are going to have another crash in 2016 that's as big or bigger than the crash we had in 2008. There's a lot of selling going on right now because people want cash on hand.

Heh, this Avalanche International sounds alot like Cerberus, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them do exactly what Cerberus did in the gun industry........buy up a bunch of musical instrument companies, consolidate them to one or two plants, and produce an inferior product.

Re: Suhr in the process of getting bought out.

its the new way of business! buy a good brand and run it into the ground making a bunch of money then moving on to the next victim

Re: Suhr in the process of getting bought out.

It's interesting to see how the different guitar companies choose to answer the question "how can we be cheap without seeming cheap?" That's what lies ahead at Suhr. There's a supply and demand issue with teenagers who want the good stuff at a cheap stuff price.

They all go about it a little different. Most of them make it clear that their new cheap line is distinct from their premium product, so it's really surprising that Fender, of all brands, allows it's premium marque to adorn guitars costing as little as $300 - $400.

Why do you think this?

Re: Suhr in the process of getting bought out.

Wow.. really hope this ends up for the better.. Id love to have a Suhr one day. I can see them hitting ebay for huge prices...... I hope this fares better than EBR. (Erik Buell Racing)

Re: Suhr in the process of getting bought out.

Generally from my experience in the Corporate World... The company buying them will take all of the intellectual property, a few key employees, of course the money, and strip off the rest and get rid of it. Then they will integrate the line into their own. Much like HP did with Compaq when that buyout happened, I was there. For example...they started calling the Compaq laptops the HP Compaq Proliant, now they are just calling them HP Proliant Laptops.

Re: Suhr in the process of getting bought out.

Everyone's getting too worried. When Fender bought Jackson/Charvel, everyone said the same thing, but Jackson/Charvel only improved
