Little Ceasar's and Vito & Nick's have the same ingredients, but they don't taste anything alike.
From the description, I believe the Thornbucker 2 is to give Pete Thorn a quintessential PAF sound but tweaked to work in his HSS sig guitar (so I would think the shift from A4 to A2 warms it up so that in an alder Strat type it sounds nearly the same as the A4 Thornbucker in a mahogany/maple cap type guitar).
The Duncan '78 model, IME, is thin, bright and tight. It sounds like a Pearly Gates with the bass rolled off. What I noticed is you can simulate that 'starved plate / brown' sound without a Variac on your Plexi. It would also do Eric Clapton Beano/Fool SG tones really well; it's like a bright snappy PAF to a degree, but it has some heat to drive an amp.
