I thought I'd post this. I've built this from parts and made quite a lot of it myself. NGD post elsewhere with more pictures.
Never had a sunburst, but when I saw this two piece swamp ash Mighty Mite body, I had to have it.
(here's a naked picture of it from a week ago before I finished it)

Actually, Seth would've probably loved that. True story. I was with Seth and Seymour in Seth's garage going through all kind of memorabilia. He showed me a magazine advertisement that Gibson produced in honor of the 20th anniversary of the Gibson patent--and it had Seth's name signed on it. Seth says, "See that signature, there? That's not my signature."
"Who signed it then?" I asked.
"I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw it. So I called up Gibson and I got a girl who worked in their Marketing Department. I asked her, 'Why didn't you ask me to sign it? I would've been happy to do it'."
"What'd she say?" I asked.
"She said, 'Well Mr. Lover, frankly, we didn't know if you were still alive'."
And when he said delivered that punchline, he cracked himself up and just giggled. It was great to him laugh like that.

Since my main isn't a technical "sunburst", heres my gf's G&L JB.

2012 Gibson Les Paul Supreme, Seymour Duncan 59/JB, gold pickup surrounds, Wilkinson roller bridge, Kahler brass stop tailpiece, vintage style control knobs, Schaller pickup selector tip and strap locks. Also has Optima gold strings.

Wow! Some stunning guitars in this thread. I'm almost embarrassed to show my cheap-ass Johnson Strat . . . but I will, because it has one of the nicest sunburst finishes of any guitar I've ever owned. (Photo-top maybe?)

You are not alone my friend, I have always loved sunburst for the most part.
Here is mine it came with a 4-ply tortoise pick guard originally.
However IMHO a white one really sets off the burst a lot better. So as always a huge thanks goes out to forum member ehdwuld, for sending me a white one free of charge. So currently it looks like this:
Yes I know the second picture is garbage, taken with wife's tablet which takes shockingly horrible pictures.
Seeing some really nice guitars in this thread BTW!

First we have the front and back of my 3 color Sunburst USA Custom Guitars S body made from two pieces of FLAMED ALDER. Oh yeah. (it is set up like a voodoo strat with roasted flame maple neck, reverse headstock, and brazillian rosewood fingerboard, has 64 pickups in it from Kerry Learned and Callaham trem).
Next we have my Corsa Manalishi.
And last we have my Warmoth V with flame maple veneer and black limba body. It has RS PAFs and an all rosewood T style neck from USA Custom Guitars. Wraparound bridge was made by Steve Rowen (RIP) from Pigtail Music.

Bad 5 year old cell phone picture of my #1 Strat.
That was when I had the Road worn neck on it. That's a great neck. It has the original maple AmStd neck on it now.

It's worn a few hats over the years, and a LOT of pickups :laughing:
