Someone is selling a Sunn Beta Lead cabinet with out the amp for $100. I was thinking about buying it and using it for an extension cabinet for my Vox AC15CC1 until I luck up on a Sunn Beta Lead amp for a decent price. Anyone think this is a bad/good idea ? My Vox has upgraded tubes (Tung-Sol, JJ), bright cap mod and Accutronics reverb.

Good idea IMO....They had a beta at a local GC a few years ago forever for about 400 bucks, I sat and waited for the markdown, it got down to 100 and someone swooped it up under my nose....

Re: Sunn Beta Lead cabinet

I have a 8 ohm Weber Blue Dog installed. Should I wire that in series with the 2 16 ohm speakers in parallel or just use one or the other.

Re: Sunn Beta Lead cabinet

which SUNN Beta Lead Cabinet is it? There were three, 1x12, 2x12, 4x10. All with same amp I believe.

Re: Sunn Beta Lead cabinet

There's a 4x12 Beta Lead cab too. Really cool cab. Stock speakers, not so much, square magnet 50 watters, CTS or Emi, probably better for cleaner styles than what I would use them for.

Just the cabinet on top, not including the amp under it

Re: Sunn Beta Lead cabinet

That's actually the combo cab with the amp pulled. I wouldn't pay $100 for it, but it might be cool to do something with.

Re: Sunn Beta Lead cabinet

Yeah that's what I said in the first post. I was going to build a 2x12 extention cabinet so it would have costs me around the same thing without the speakers and it saved me some work. I just picked up a Peavey Transtube Studio Pro 112 (amp only without the cabinet or speaker) and plan on putting it in this cabinet to see how it sounds. Only paid $60 for it so if it doesn't work out it won't be a big deal.
