Super Distortion - Van Halen Tone Attempt

Re: Super Distortion - Van Halen Tone Attempt

Thank you, LLL.

That was certainly useful, and enlighting. Man, was Eddie a narcissist, already as a young man!

No, Ed was having a very difficult time dealing with all the people, guitar co's, press, etc... using him and his newfound fame for their own gain.

I'd say that's most probably his life-long addiction to drugs and alcohol taking its toll from a relatively young age, but hey! He's still around and playing just as good today as when he was twenty-two, so mad props to him.

Having said that, I wouldn't put a lot of trust on the accuracy of his memory, if you catch my drift. Bittersweet story, that can be used as both conquering against all odds and as a cautionary tale.

??? The interview you read was from 1979, so he would have been 24 years old.

I've never even read that he was into drugs. Alcohol yes, that led to a hip replacement surgery.

But wtf do I know, I don't have 15 years of experience moonlighting as a tech for major euro bands touring around the north sea.

Re: Super Distortion - Van Halen Tone Attempt

At least we can all agree that Cobain got better tone than Van Halen, right? :P
