Just giving you a hard time bro!!!!!!!!!!!!! :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

Its just not my cup of tea bro! :) :) :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

Don't worry about it, bro. You at least provide a reason why, or just state that you're not a fan of it and why and give other alternatives. I respect that.

Re: Super Strat Humbucker for '80's metal?

Ok guys... Cory (wixomwhat) said the JB sucked for 80's metal... let's all kick his ass because we disagree!

Dave (theodie) said the same thing in more words (and then goes on to suggest a f*cking DiMarzio, to boot ) and nobody jumps his sh1t. What's the deal?

Yes- thank You Chris, I thought I was the only one who noticed that too.

I'm really getting sick of this One sided Bullsh1t from the People on this forum.
No matter what I say I always get Insulted then told that my oppinion doesnt count. WTF?

Re: Super Strat Humbucker for '80's metal?

Nobody suggested the obvious ones, the DiMarzio MegaDrive which has '80's written ALL OVER IT, and the Full Shred. I find these two to be the most 80's to me...

Re: Super Strat Humbucker for '80's metal?

When I think 80's metal tone, I think of monsterous mids. So pretty much any pickup that would bring out the mids in an alder guitar would be a great pup for 80's metal.

Of course, that's just my observation, but somebody else might say the 80's metal tone was generally balanced, trebley, whatever.

Re: Super Strat Humbucker for '80's metal?

Well, I think we all know that odie doesn't like the JB, one thing I always has been missing in his messages though, is EXACTLY why he doesn't like it.. All I've seen is just "I hate it", and then that's it..This is not to insult odie since he seems like a nice guy, I just think people would like to know why you don't like something, or else they can't really use your opinion for anything.

Re: Super Strat Humbucker for '80's metal?

I think everyone is relying too much on pickups for the overall sound. Lets not forget the amp plays a big part in the sound. To say the JB isn`t good for metal is a little off IMO.....i find it to be amazing for metal and extreme metal as well!!!!! But again, the amp factors in as well!!!!!!!

They both suggested DiMarzios, actually.

Most likely those same people probally do not like the Dimarzio Super Distortion but, just as many people probally used it in the 80's as the JB. I happen to like the Super Distortion for 80's metal. They both have a solid place in 80's metal though!
What about this says the JB sucks?

Re: Super Strat Humbucker for '80's metal?

wixom, relax. Your initial comment on the JB was one-sided with nothing to back it up, so let's just end it there.

You've brought up 3 other good choices, and even though 2 are DiMarzio, they are good choices. :)

The Gibson Dirty Fingers is really hot, hotter than a JB or X2N. The Invader is probably the closest that Duncan has to that when it comes to DC resistance. The Scorpions used them for a good part of the 80's if I remember correctly, and they might still.

cause theodie actually had an explanation, and some alternative choices, instead of just saying "the JB sucks." its fine for people to have different opinions on pickups, but dont just say "it sucks" and leave it at that

So I guess just saying something like "the JB rocks" or "everybody used a jb in the 80's" explains everything and nobody would need to to question those comments and ask "why does the JB rock for 80's metal?".

Re: Super Strat Humbucker for '80's metal?

80's metal=Duncan Distortion. 80's Rock=Custom Custom.

No I don't care what your opinion is. :P

Re: Super Strat Humbucker for '80's metal?

Poor Wixon, so misunderstood.

JB
Distortion
Custom

The JB is badass in a Strat for 80s metal or anything else. Why else would I have one in mine?
