Swapping MT Blackouts for ZW EMG's?

I have a set of EMG Zakk Wylde 81/85 (18v mod) set up w/ just a volume pot and a 3-way in a Ibanez MTM2. Can I just swap them out for some of the new Mick Thomson Blackouts without any worry about wiring? The pots are the same and should be fine.

Welcome to the User Group Forums! Blackouts will also run on 18-v and will benefit from increased headroom.

"Better" is obviously subjective. There MUST be something with the EMGs that the OP didn't like and this is what I was asking for. Has he found what he wanted with the Blackouts? I dunno, but I'd like to hear from him. I have never tried Blackouts, but I used EMGs exclusively for 10 years. That must tell you I'm in the EMG camp rather than in the Blackouts camp.

Imho, because BlackOuts, are so much 'btter' in every aspect than EMG's.

Saying that, i have not yet tried the MT Black Outs.

I'd take out one battery honestly. The Blackouts in 9 volt mode have more headroom than 18 volt EMGs anyway.

i have just recently installed the blackouts in a ibanez also having a esp ex 260 with 81/85 in it the multitudes these blackouts are better at is unexplainable
