Switching Both the Amp Channel and the OD Pedal in the same time?

Is it possible to switch both the amp channel (It has own channel switch pedal.) and the OD pedal in the same time?

Re: Switching Both the Amp Channel and the OD Pedal in the same time?

Yes. You will need a loop controller that allows that sort of control, but they are not uncommon.

Re: Switching Both the Amp Channel and the OD Pedal in the same time?

Yup...what type of connection does your amp use for switching?

Re: Switching Both the Amp Channel and the OD Pedal in the same time?

Yes, there are midi loops switchers that do this and more with just 1 button press. But some amps have some weirdo cables for switching channels. You will have to do some research to see what type of switching system your amp uses, and look up available loops systems and see if they are compatible.

I have Marshall DSL-5. Does it work?

Loop Controller? Does Keeley True Bypass Switcher work?

How are the connections going to be?

Re: Switching Both the Amp Channel and the OD Pedal in the same time?

189 dollars.

Doesn't any simple Loop Switcher work? Is there a cheaper alternative?

I don't believe so. As far as I understand it, you're talking about two separate mechanisms:

1) A looper for pedals has on-off relays for each loop - and the pedal in the loop is always on, so basically when you hit the switch it just passes the signal through the pedal instead of bypassing it.

2) An amp channel switcher reroutes the signal within the amp by activating a relay within the amp. So, if your amp is in a loop in the looper, the switch there won't do anything to the amp.

The higher-end switchers have a loop signal path AND the switching functionality built in.

Put 'em closer together,sideways,whatever...

or get an amp w/a better OD channel
:p
;)

Do a True ByPass Looper and an ABY Switch pedal work together?

Can't say. What type of cable and plug does the DSL-5's footswitch require? Is it a simple 1/4" cable? Is it a multi-pin MIDI-style cable? Is it a 3-prong rounded-end mic-style cable? I'm not going to run down to the store to buy an amp I don't need so I can answer that question when you already have the amp in front of you and can just as easily give more detail about the cable.

Re: Switching Both the Amp Channel and the OD Pedal in the same time?

its a 1/4" for the footswitch ( I googled this after he didn't answer the same question I asked...)

Thanks. OP, my answer stands as is, you'll need the double functionality. And, no, an ABY switch and looper won't work.

I just looked the footswitch cable. same size with the amp input.

I'm not going through it again - read my earlier post.

The only cheap solution is to put the channel switcher and the OD pedal close enough to each other that you can hit both switches with your foot at the same time.

Re: Switching Both the Amp Channel and the OD Pedal in the same time?

Ok, so the amp uses a 1/4" jack/plug/cable to change channels. I'm going to assume it's a mono cable (Tip-Sleeve - I have a Digitech IPS33 and the footswitch uses TRS at both ends for the amp-style footswitch).

You might be able to modify a cheaper looper pedal so that moving the OD into the signal path also changes channels on the amp, and then changes it back when you move it out of the signal path again. You might also have to add a jack that is spliced into the jack on the looper where the OD is plugged in, and the OD must always be plugged into that spot when you use the looper.

Get a Morley ABY pedal and put the OD guts in that. It has 3 jacks and 2 switches. You can rewire it so one switch turns the OD On/Off, as well as being connected to the other Output jack which would take your channel switch cable. The second switch you could use as a kill switch that shuts off the pedal's Input (for swapping guitars easily).

Re: Switching Both the Amp Channel and the OD Pedal in the same time?

The least expensive solution I know of is the Clean / Dirty / Channel switcher from Loopmaster. They start around $100 and will switch between and 'A' and 'B' loops and switch amp channels at the same time. I recently ordered the more advanced version which includes a tuner out, master bypass, and the ability to run both loops in series.

Close together and shoes.
