switching covered pickups

i have a schecter c1 + with the dd hb103's, and they have chrome covers. i love the cleans and the bridge pup is decent. my question is can i take out the bridge hb103 from the chrome cover and put a jb back into the cover in its place. how well would a jb sound with a hb103 in the neck? would i be making a mistake switching them?

u CAN get the covers off but its a bitch if u ask me. the dd's are wax potted so its gunna be a big mess. i did this and its definitely doable but personally id just buy new covers.
