Switching power tube positions.

Is it safe to switch the inner tubes to where the outer tubes are and outer to inner? I know the tubes work in as pairs inner/outer tubes. I was just check if this is safe to do so I can be sure the heater filament in one of my power tubes is dead for certain. It just seems like a weird problem because just a few months ago the problem happened, then I just switched the inner tubes around and it started to working again.

Yes you can. If they were a matched quad, you don't have worry about which ones you switch. If you have matched pairs, then switch the two inner tubes or the two outer tubes. In a 4 tube setup , you should use matched quads as most amps do not let you bias each pair separately.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try switching them tonight and see if it starts working again.

Okay that made it lit for a bit. It started off not lit then after a few minutes the filament lit and warmed the tube up. After another few minutes the filament died again and the tube started to cool down. Now I'm sure its just a bad tube.
