Sz520

ok so, picked up a ibanez SZ520 the other day and it plays great. however the pickups make it almost impossible to do a PH. i had an older jackson with a set of distortions in it and it was great. it could do ALMOST everything i needed.
the only bad thing was there wasnt enough difference in the postitons. the bridge was hot and bright, the neck was hot and muddy... not good enough.
so my question is: what other options do i have?

i really want a bassy crunch in the bridge that isnt too muddled and a clear neck position that isnt so sloppy sounding...suggestions?

Re: Sz520

I have a JB/Jazz set in my SZ520 and it makes PH's fine.. Although if you really want a bassy crunch, go with like a duncan distortion or DSonic? My preferred combo is DSonic/Jazz, which im hooking up to an RGT i should be getting next week, but basically same (mahogany neckthru ibanez)

Re: Sz520

The SZs are set neck, not neck-thru. I've got a DiMarzio Super 3/Evo (neck) set in an SZ320, and it sounds pretty good. Honestly, I really dig the stock Duncan Designed pickups (59, Distortion), and will probably toss them back in until I feel like dishing out for the "real" ones.

Re: Sz520

Custom in the bridge would be my suggestion. For the neck there are a lot of pups to fit your description. Full Shred, Jazz, Dimarzio Evo, PAF Pro. Anything more specific you want from the neck?

Re: Sz520

yea the neck joint was awesome, i was considering a custom too, i was about to get those the last time but they only had the distortions

Re: Sz520

Does sz520's keyboard suit to play solo? I want to come by one of them. Is it like Gibson Les Paul? There is one model in sa series which is more suitable to solo. I'm not sure which for me is.

Re: Sz520

they are similar to a Les paul, except less bulky and much faster imo.. I have a blue quilt top SZ520 im selling if your interested, Only reason im selling it is because I am keeping my RGT as my only 6 string, rest are 7 strings.
