which bridge pickup for a gibson explorer? i play mainly 80s metal; maiden, scorpions, motley, metallica....
i don´t want actives (EMG).
i play through a Marshall JVM 100W head so i don´t really need to push the amp for gain (at the input), i prefer clarity and dynamics, and i think the stock T500 does not provide, a bit harsh, muddy.
please recomend!

A Distortion will sound great for that in that guitar. Perfect for the bands you listed. A JB might work also, but could be muddy in your explorer.

I too found the 500T muddy in my explorer. I swapped it out and left it untouched for years before trying it in a guitar with 500k pots and loving it. Try switching your bridge volume pot to a 500k (it'll be 300k stock) and see how you feel. It'll take about $5 at most.

Actually this is a real good suggestion. I was thinking of the 500T and how its one of the few Gibby pups i really like but I did this same thing years ago with a pot swap.

I would also consider a dimarzio super distortion. Try the pot swap first (or simply putting a 200k resitor in series with the stock 300k pot as a $0.10 check before the pot swap)
