Take 2

Did you ever have a guitar you loved so much...

...that you just had to get another?

And I don't mean *similar* guitars or variant models, but multiple copies of the same model, with identical specs save for cosmetics. (The SZ520/720 pair is a stretch, but I actually have a second 520 that was unavailable for this shoot.) The RS315-CS inspired this post. NGD bliss to have just scored that beauty!!!

And yes, I know my yard looks like hell. I'm not going to waste time raking 24 hours before a hurricane hits!

Re: Take 2

Nice looking group of guitars. I know the two on the right are Ibanezes, but I don't recognize the other headstocks. What are they if you don't mind me asking?

Re: Take 2

They are all Ibanez, as are the vast majority of my collection. That's how I can afford multiple copies. :)

Left to right: SZ720FM-TG, SZ520QM-BBL, Roadstar II RS315-CS, RS315-MS, ART100-B, ART100-W. (SZ520QM-TP not pictured.)

Thanks for the nice comments!

Re: Take 2

You just can't beat a pair of sexy twins. :naughty:

I have two Mexican Fender Teles that have identical specs, pretty much. Well, they didn't until very recently, when I put a '59n in the neck of one of them. Now they're pretty identical spec-wise, save for pickup models.

What are the necks like on those Art models, by the way? I considered one for the longest time, but couldn't try one out in person and didn't want to take a risk on it. I really don't like the necks on the RGs I've tried.

Amen to those twins... Too bad I can't play two at once!

The ART100 neck feels a slight bit chunkier to me than the Wizard necks on the RG's... A bit more of a rounded "D" with the same gloss finish as the rest of the guitar, though not as chunky as an LP. These have great sustain thanks to the set neck and solid mahogany construction. I also like the stock pickups on this model very much - ACH1-S(n) / ACH2-S(b).

Some of the available finishes are a bit whacky but these can be had for $300 new, $200 used in mint condition here in The States. An unbeatable value for an LP-style guitar, IMO. They also have a 7-string version.

Re: Take 2

Good stuff Doc veggy! i'm feeling those 1 pickup jammies. I am guilty as charged.

Nice Vees! I like the bride/groom color scheme with a pair of axes. Cool inlay, too.

The single pickup Roadstar IIs are just phenomenal guitars. It's funny because I've played a few others in the Roadstar line, and they come off as generic strat copies to me. But for whatever reason, the combination of the single V-2 in the bridge and the maple neck just gives this model a character unlike any of its brethren. I was very lucky to find that one in Cherry Sunburst - it's a beauty and in mint condition. The blue one is a real player, but it was beat up when I got it and I've rocked it ever since.

Like any good parent I don't have a #1 favorite guitar, but the 315 would be in the running if I did.

I would love another Hamer Californian.

Those are nice. The reverse-F neck pickup seems very interesting. There are one or two on ebay right now. Jus' sayin'... :banghead::banghead:

Re: Take 2

Nice looking guitars! I use to have multiples of several guitars. At one time I had five 1982 G&L, S-500's. I also had multiple Stratocasters and G&L, Asat's. The only multiples I have now are two Telecasters.

I had a pair of Yamaha 604W's that I gigged regularly when I was in Cyprus...very cool guitars.
I only sold them when I moved back to the UK and wasn't gigging...I used the money to buy my G&L Legacy.

Re: Take 2

Cool man. That's very justified. I want to do the same with guitars but can't cause it's a substantial investment.

Re: Take 2

Love those RS315's, the blue one would do me nicely I always wanted back in the early 80's.

Re: Take 2

Nice six pack of guitars in pairings. :cool2:

I like multiple things like that a lot myself.

I have an all mahogany Dean Z and an all mahogany Hamer Standard for example. I also have a 1979 Dean Z Standard and a 1979 Hamer Standard. Both in Cherry Sunburst.

Re: Take 2

NO. Ya mean same exact guitar right? pointless. Unless you are collecting them for profit, whats the point? Its stupid as hell, there is no point.
I have 4 Strats, point being they all have difefrences, either pickups, necks, body wood..something.
Some guys here buy same guitar different colors. I think thats dumb.
