Take 2

Re: Take 2

NO. Ya mean same exact guitar right? pointless. Unless you are collecting them for profit, whats the point? Its stupid as hell, there is no point.
I have 4 Strats, point being they all have difefrences, either pickups, necks, body wood..something.
Some guys here buy same guitar different colors. I think thats dumb.

I do that with shoes, especially if they are really cool and go on sale, cause I know they won't be available even one or two months later.

Re: Take 2

Roadstars ftw! Those single pu ones can fetch a pretty penny sometimes. There was a magenta burst one on eBay this year, which looked hot.

You have a point, there, but man, you're starting to sound like my wife! :D

My reason for getting multiple copies of the same guitar is that I can be rough on my gear. I once had a really nice electric that brought my playing to a whole new level. It became integral to my playing style. Then I knocked it off the stand and broke the headstock. I felt as if I had just broken my own arm. I have not been able to replace it because it's been out of production for 20 years and was not a common model, so they just don't come up for sale very often.

So when I find a guitar I really like, I get a backup while they are still around. I'm not talking about expensive guitars here, so it's no major investment. But as long as I don't knock them off their stands, my great-great grandkids will still be able to sell them for at least what I paid for them. And I do realize that ART100s are about as common now as Honda Civics, but some of my other favorite models have gone out of production after just a few short years.

Getting different colors/finishes gives each one a bit of its own personality, and makes it easier to keep track of which is which for maintenance purposes and such.

I'm telling you, these are amazing. This is another guitar that enables me to play stuff I never could before, and it has an incredible rock tone too. When I let friends play it, they just won't put it down. It is a real go-to guitar. I was the only bidder on that orange burst, if you can believe that.

I had a pair of Yamaha 604W's that I gigged regularly when I was in Cyprus...very cool guitars.
I only sold them when I moved back to the UK and wasn't gigging...I used the money to buy my G&L Legacy.

I have a 603Z that is a great axe. One of my rare non-Ibanez guitars, and probably the least $$$ I ever paid for a guitar. ($70 at a flea market.) I put a lot of hours on that one.

Nice twin hats, too!

Sounds like I should get one sometime :). Forum bro Kevlar also has a red and blue pair like you, he loves them. I have an RS525 that rocks - it was $150 BIN and nobody was going for it! I like the combination of a medium C neck and flat radius.

Re: Take 2

I'm guilty of this too.
I have 2 Ibanez SZs, 2 Ibanez ART300s, 2 Squire Deluxe Stratocasters, 2 Peavey Falcons, 2 LTD EC-256s, 2 Epiphone Les Pauls. When you know they are good and you can find a good deal on them it just makes sense to get another one...right?

Re: Take 2

In a word- no.

In fact I use it as a way to talk myself out of buying some guitars. I commonly feel the urge to buy guitars similar to ones I own, but I always use that fact as a way to save my money.
