I really want to try out a alnico 3 magnet in a Custom. So far, I've tried the Alnico 2 Custom Custom, alnico 5 Custom 5 (my favorite), and even tried an alnico 4 magnet, which is like a C-5 with a little less bass, good mids, and clean highs. That turned out to be a little harder sounding than the C-5, but has great articulation. I still prefer the Custom 5. This leads me to want to try out a A3 magnet. In actuality, I've stopped worrying about my pickups.
I usually use C-5/59 or C-5/ Seth Lover neck and have tailored my sound to those pickups, along with Fender Fat 50's and Fralin Vin Hots for my strats.
