Talk me into (or out of) buying this JC-120

Re: Talk me into (or out of) buying this JC-120

here is how I used my JC-120.

I had a XXX. In the loop of the XXX, I had a Rocktron multi. The left went to the loop return. The right went to the JC-120. Poor man's stereo rig with stereo effects. The JC would get the same sound the XXX's preamp was making, dig? Plus the chorus, for the extra neato. It was weird but fun, and quiet.

I also had a Cube. The Cube's JC channel is great. Plus it has distortion models and a bunch of effects. You could get 2 of those for the same price.

Don't get this amp, however I wish other 2 spkr amps would consider making the stereo speaker feature. I play with two amps with a delay pedal on to keep them from sounding at the same time. Just to be clear, the effect is on full, so the second amp comes in microseconds later. If I dial up a similar sound on ea, it's really fun how the sound floats. Also, if I widen the delay, it's great for getting a randyrhoads dbl tracked effect. I had a Roland stereo chorus, it's strictly for getting that brittle clean sound, but most good clean sounds have a smidge of tube distortion(ex:DontFeartheReaper). Blackstars are great. I use a Bugera22 cuz it's the cheapest I could get with 2 power tubes to crank. Trust me, tubes are worth the "hassle". I gig alot and I've only had to change em every ten years. Real distortion is tube distortion, and power tubes add roar to preamp tube saruration. Let me add I use an ibnz distortion pedal w a jj preamptube. That cost 125, the tube was 12, the amp was 350, and its stack quality re: killer crankin' distortion, and clear warmth. I'm not bragging, I'm sharing simple science and economy...good pro dist sound=name pkup+crankin' preamp & power tubes+practice not playing sucky.

it's a fun amp, and a fave of amp connoisseurs. The cleans are pretty, the breakup is pleasant. The distortion knob should be left off at all times and removed to avoid accidentally turning it on.

people buy it for the chorus and for Call of Cthulhu. Old schoolers A/B'd them with Marshalls for rock/clean.

It's the chorus.
