Talk to me about Fuchs

I just found out that they'll mod fender amps to Overdrive Supreme Spec's, what do you think? Good guys? Good amps?

Fuchs amps are very nice sounding IMO, albeit I've always considered them somewhat of a a Dumble clone (an opinion supported by your post :laugh2: ). That said I think they sound great and wouldn't mind owning one. I emailed them once about modding a Traynor head and quickly got an email back from Andy himself. He also posts fairly frequently over at The Gear Page, seems like a pretty nice guy.

I haven't had the opportunity to encounter one in the wild, but I love the clips that I've heard. They do have that "Dumble clone" sound, but much better than others that I've heard. They seem to be very touch sensitive and dripping with harmonic content. I would really love the chance to sit down and play through one for an hour or two.

Re: Talk to me about Fuchs

They do sound nice, I played one with EVs and it had a brown enough sound (I would want to hear it with other speakers), clarity, fat notes, great sustain - but at the price I considered other options like the Bogners.

It's definitely more of a lead players amp, esp someone into that Dumble / 70s Mesa Mark sound a la Larry Carlton, EJ, etc - not so much shredding. Very thick and fat with nice overtones.

Re: Talk to me about Fuchs

Best trade I ever made was for a Fuchs ODS Custom-20.

Best money I've ever spent of gear was having it brought up to SLX spec & had the Atist footswitch mod.

Fantastic little powerhouse of an amp....fantastic people to deal with...Andy answers his own e-mails & his wife keeps the books...turn-around is FAST; I got mine back in about a week!!!

All in all, GREAT GREAT AMPs & BUILDER :bigthumb:

This is WAY MORE than a jazz amp :headbang:
