I did a search and found a few threads, but they were all about a year old or so. Who has experience with these? Who owns one? Any downfalls? What's the deal skippy?
I really wanting to put a band together soon. I don't know if I wanna do my own stuff or covers or what. As you all know I'm a diehard Line6 fan. I love my AX2/212's with their quality and effects and all. Hell, I could play anywhere with those things and be just fine and I actually have. The thing is, I now own a 5150 half stack and I recently purchased a Marshall JVM 410h head. I figured wtf man, I'll step up and be like yall big boys with tube amps....ya know? Anyways....I gotta have effects. It's just a part of my sound, tone, whatever you wanna call it. The staple to my sound has always been quite a bit of chorus on my cleans as well as different types of delay. I really love a good ping pong (or whatever it's called) delay on my cleans. When it comes to my rhythms I like just a hint of stereo chorus (almost where you really can't even hear it...just enough to thicken it a bit) and a tad of stereo delay. My leads I like the same tad of chorus and quite a bit of delay. I like to throw in the occasional phase all jacked up on some clean sounds as well as a tad of it on leads...ala Eddie Van Halen. I could care less about any type of reverb the unit might have. Reverb just isn't my thing man, as I prefer delay. I really like chorus and delay. I enjoy a good phase here and there as well. Tremelo is always a cool thing for me to play around with when I'm writing some weird bluesey stuff, so that's cool as well.
I've done a tad of research on the unit, but research isn't nothing compared to people that have experience with things. This is why I ask. I'll be using it with my Marshall JVM head. Now mind you, I'm no MIDI expert or any of that crap, but I think If I could figure out a couple of things then I'd really sound great. First annd foremost I will be buying another 4x12....that's a given. But enough about that...my a.d.d. is starting to kick in. The Marshall JVM is MIDI compatible. I don't know if you've read about it, but it has 4 different channels with 3 different modes of each channel. I can program it's footpedal/floorboard or whatever ya call those things into all kinds of configurations. Anyways I'm rambling.
So if I take a TC Electronic G Major and run it into my JVM and not use it's foot pedal thingy but I use a Behringer FCB1010 (I looked at that cause I've seen Mincer talk about it often and give it praise, and I also value his opinion man) will it allow me to change channels on my amp, change chorus, and delay, and all that stuff? Hopefully that made sense. I'm just an old Joe Perry school of plug in and play man. I don't know these things.
Anyways once again. Help a brother out please. What's your opinion on these units and how can I make it work for me in the a.d.d. way I only know how to explain it. I sure would appreciate it.
I figure $400 for a good effects unit isn't bad at all. I hear it's great, but this is why I ask yall's opinion on this. Is it really good? I think the Behringer floorboard is like $150 or so. Although that's a bit of dosh for the two combined, it really sounds like a good way to have a Bradshaw whitetrash unit. Am I making sense about trying to do what I think is do-able per se, or am I in the spirit world over here man?
Thank you all. I hope my mind stayed on track and you were able to follow all of that. I look foward to your answers.
