Tapping or Splitting Mini HB with a Fender S-1 Switch?

Hi folks, I have done some searching on here, but the term "S-1" seems too short to turn up results.

I have a 2003 American Series Strat. I have been playing with pick ups. I have tried some Quarter Pound SD's, an SSL-5 and a JB Jr so far. Stock pickups as well with various blends with the others mentioned. I am looking for a nice HB driven sound in the bridge, yet still want some clean strat spank when I blend bridge and middle position.
The quarter pound in the bridge, blended with stock middle PU was very good clean. However QP bridge alone was too mid heavy and nasally. I removed it. I put stock Fender pick ups in bridge and middle and an SSL-5 in the neck position. Blended, position 2, and clean the strat sound was great, but bridge alone, not quite what I am looking for. A little thin. Next I put a Jb Jr mini humbucker in the bridge, left the middle stock. The bridge sound alone, driven, delivers the dirt sound I want. Its great. But you know where this is going...When clean, blended with the stock middle, is not delivering the strat spank I got with the 2 stock pickups in. The sound is ok, but not what I had achieved with the 2 stock pickups, blended and clean.

Put the neck position aside here in this discussion, as I am happy with an SSL-5 in there. Leaving the Jb Jr in the bridge, I like it alone with dirt. Any suggestions for clean options, blending middle pickup and Jb Jr? I was thinking of trying another SSL-5 in the middle. Hoping it'll play nice nice with the Jb Jr. Another option I thought of was installing a Fender S-1 switch in the volume position, to split the Jb Jr to sound like a single coil. The switch is non intrusive, not having to cut any hole in the guitar anywhere. Has anyone done this with an S-1 and Jb Jr? Can the S-1 be wired up to achieve this?

It is hard to get the clean and dirty sounds you want from one guitar. I know I am going to have to compromise. I am close now with the Jb Jr in there, but hoping I can do better by blending it with a good middle pickup for that clean stratty sound I want. Thanks.
