Re: Taylor, Martin or Gibson (Acoustic) Poll
Count me in for Guild.
Count me in for Guild.
Yes, a good D-28 is my idea of "An Acoustic Guitar." Classic.
But a good D-35 is "The Ultimate Acoustic Guitar." In terms of pure musicality, a good D-35 will mop the floor of all in its path. They are beasts. Balanced, shimmery, harmonic, responsive, tough and raunchy, and loud. They can do almost anything, and do it better than most anything else IMO. Plus they are just gorgeous.
That D35 comment I find odd. My Dad has a D35 and I've never really liked it, and my Hohner is WAY louder than it. It's a great guitar, but my cheapy Hohner from the 70s I've always liked better and I think a D28 is head and shoulders above the D35. Having said that, Taylor takes the cake.
+1 I own 2 Cruz's and I wouldn't trade them for anything.Santa Cruz.
Glad to see we are in unanimous agreement that Guild is king!
When it comes to 12 strings I would agree. Guild 12's are second to none. They are huge and you can play them tuned to pitch! They have a really powerful truss rod to counteract the added string tension and they are braced accordingly. I haven't been able to find an older model price right, but when I do I will own one!
What, no Falbo? :burnout:
The edge has to go to Martin. Their line is so broad, they even have fake Taylors now too. And if you ask most acoustic players, their dream collection will include a Martin, but may not include a Taylor or Gibson.
Yep, no point owning a guitar you cant play.............
I think they all would sound terrible running into a JCM800 with a tube screamer in front.
