TBX tone control

My first time on this forum. I read the threads about the Fender TBX tone control with great interest. I tried installing on the bridge pu of my LP according to the instructions included with it, but no effect on bass. Then I tried installing according to the schematic by JoeAArthur using caps on the 250k treble pot of .022 to
.047 and on the 1 meg bass pot of .0008 to .0047. None of the combinations had any effect on the bass. What am I doing wrong. This sounds like such a terrific idea, but I'm totally frustrated. Can someone help me with this?

TBXpert has arrived!!! Damn, should've made THAT my user name!

Simple fix!! You need a resistor in the mix. Here's the TBX schematic i use and I LOVE it. It's in both my Tele and Strat and I go from flat, fat and bassy, to bypass, to nice and bright and yummy!!

This should solve your problem: http://www.guitarelectronics.com/product/WDUSSS5L1205

If that doesn't work, one of the pots is dead and your should take it back, or you wired it wrong. If you want, I can take pics in an hour or two of the TBX in my Tele and that way it'll show you how it's wired.

Re: TBX tone control

I suggest wiring it per Doc's mod from the FDP (I've posted the link to the mod in several past threads) or by using the two caps. The stock parallel 82k resistor is a problem. It will pull the output of the pickup down (speaking from experience here).

You probably have it wired up with the two caps, let's take a look at how you have it wired up to the volume pot. Can you post a good diagram of how you have everything wired right now?

First of all let me say that I really appreciate all of you trying to help me. ErikH asked for a diagram but I'm not sure how to do that, but here is the address of a diagram that shows exactly as I've wired it. I've tried several different values of caps and I tried adding in the 82k resistor between the center terminal of the 250k pot and ground and between the third terminal of the 1 meg pot and ground. nothing seems to make a difference.

You have a dead pot. You have to take it back and get it exchanged for a new one. Before I put the Ultra Strat mod in my Squier I tried putting in a push/pull as an on switch for the bridge pup to get neck and middle and all 3 pups on sounds, and it didn't work. Why? The push/pull was dead. It's an annoyance, but it happens.
