They're Awesome. I've owned one for about a year. They're very flexible and their effects quality is GREAT. It's definately worth the money.

It's funny.....every 5 years, there's a new 'industry standard' FX unit. The G Major has been the recent one for quite some time now.

I have been using its big brother the G-Force since '98 or '99 I guess. It is a very, very good unit. Does the G-Major have a harmonizer? I use the G-Force to drop my guitar down to sound like a bass for recording sometimes. I used to use the intelligent pitch-shifting for harmony lines live. The delay, chorus and reverb are world-class. The tremelo is great, etc... it is a just a great unit.

Well, there is a slight problem with them. There's a 40% chance that the unit will freeze up, and that you will have to send it back to have it fixed. Mine, however, was one of the 60% that was fine.

Never had a problem with my G-Major and I've owned it for over a year. The G-major does not have a harmonizer, just a pitch shifter that does 2 octaves down to one octave up with 1/2 step increments and fine tune if I am not mistaken. All the effects are top notch and the unit sounds very good. Having a gate, EQ, tuner and compressor built in is a nice touch. I need to get my PC online so I can load the software upgrade.

For the harmonizer stuff I have a Rocktron Intellipitch which has a 3 voice diatonic harmonizer as well as all the Intelleffect online algorythms. The thing is though when using the harmonizer you can't use any other funtions because the harmonizer takes up too much memory. that doesn't bother me too much though because it's the fastest tracking harmonizer I've ever played on.

The Alesis Quad pre-dates 1990 if I am not mistaken and sounds like it. They were awesome when they were fisrt released though and lots of players used them.

One more thing... a really cool feature that the G-Force has - and this only is useful if you're using it live - is that you can is it to switch channels on your amp through a midi command.
It only works if your channel switching is done using a footswitch with a 1/4"
jack, though.

I think you mean G-Major b/c the G-Force can't do that.... I used one for years and always had to have a separate channel switch which sucked.
