i seen a what looks to be good deal on one...I dont desperatly need an effects processor but in the future i would be purchasing one, But is a G-Mojor for $360 shipped(add a few for shipping to europe) a good deal that i should not pass up or would there be plently of more like this..??

Also from the site it says something about relay which can switch up to four channels on an amp also, would this work For any amp say Marshall DSL50 too?

Cheers

Re: Tc Electronics G-Major

hey man

good to see ur interested in one of the most cost effective processors on the market!! :)
about the channel switching - u might have to buy a Y lead (ie a lead that u plug into the output of the gmajor, but then splits into 2 seperate leads) - if u kno wat i mean!?!?

i use a Y lead to control my clean, cruch and lead channels (dont bother using the EQ and the reverb footswitches) on my mesa boogie MarkIII

i think this link might help u in what u need - as im not sure what type of footswitch a DSL uses, this page gives u lots of options - so if anyone is concerned on how a Gmajor can switch for u - chek this page out

For all you TSL users, TC Electronic provide a pdf schematic for u to modify ur lead on this page

edit: just did some more searching for u and found that the Gmajor can switch your DSL's channels AND your reverb via the use of a Y lead!!!!!!!!!

ENJOY!! :)

Ah ok thats cool.. But i just realised that i dont have enough money..I seen them on ebay also and there very reasonable.. The main thing the push me toward it (before realising i have other commitments to send my money) was the fact it seemed to be able to switch my chanells with the unit itelf...meaning i could essentially use it as that elusive seperart channel EQ that the DSL isnt equipped with..

This thing seems great but im gonna be Gassin for it for ages now as its unlikly ill have one for a very long time now..

Cheers ishan..

Re: Tc Electronics G-Major

no worries y2s.....

an aspect that is often overlooked by potential Gmajor buyers is the awesome Parametric EQ the unit has
theres no actual 'button' that turns it on, just double click the noise gate button and ur right there
its a very expansive function, and saves u spending heaps on somthin like a furman parametric eq ;)

personally, i was sold on the fact that it could switch my amp, the lush chorus, awesome whammy and sweet reverb

if u wanna hear wat it sounds like, TC Electronic will send u a free sample of the CD of what the Gmajor can do - yes, FREE!!! - they had to ship it from Europe (forgot which country they are based in) to Australia, and it was still free - somthin we dont experience much down under!

anyways, get the cd, then u can decide on the rest!

Re: Tc Electronics G-Major

i'm also looking to spend my money on a g-major and selling my rocktron replifex. There is one thing though that is a bit annoying....from the reviews i read at harmony central and over the internet i saw that there are some quite serious reliability issues with the g-major....so does anyone that owns one has experienced any problems with it?

Re: Tc Electronics G-Major

I don't know much about the G-Major but I have using a G-Force since '98 and I really love the thing. It sounds great, is completely bullproof and is semi-easy to use. Don't get me wrong, it takes some time figuring the thing out but once you get a few good patches you are set. The G-Major is probably a better deal. I am pretty sure I use about 30% of the G-Force's capabilities. Still, it is a world class unit.
