tc electronics Hall of Fame , now what?

Hello everyone,
I currently have a full size hall of fame from tc and it's nice but I think I want something better or better put different. I know Boss makes a really nice RV-6 or RV-500 which is what I'm considering but what other Reverb pedals are out there that are of high quality and pristine? Maybe Wampler?

Re: tc electronics Hall of Fame , now what?

Safe to assume you’re looking for something that does a big ol’ bucket of different stuff?

I’ve heard good things about the Digitech Supernatural and Polara, the latter from the guy who sold me my Catalinbread Topanga.

Personally, I wouldn’t toss over an HOF for an RV-6, but that’s a matter of preference.

What are the top sounds you’re after? I’m a fan of the Digitechs mentioned above but it depends on what you’re after. Where did the HOF fall short? It’s a decent all around reverb. What do you mean with pristine?

I think the HOF sounds great. The only upgrade I’d be looking in your position would be multiple presets accessed via MIDI. RV-500, Big Sky, Eventide Space, Empress, Source Audio Ventris, Free the Tone Ambi-Space, etc. Those are all big bucks over the HOF though.

Maybe an H9 with midi control in one of the loops set usually for reverb but with the additional flexibility of the other effects would be killer.

Good call, I spaced out the H9! Great delays and reverbs on that. (Basically a Space)

I was looking at the Keeley Aurora recently. Not a swiss army knife by any measure, but I like the few clips I've heard of it.

As good as the HOF is I always feel like I need something different. The Sound and Toneprints are excellent. But again I find myself playing around with it to much to find my tone. Thats when I know I need a change.

I'm use to real reverb like from a Fender Twin Reverb. But I also like a good room or hall reverb for that very spacious sound. I like a Reverb pedal to sound natural not like Line 6 stuff. I have tried a Line 6 Reverbs and man they sound so artificial. My last all in one board was a Boss GT-100 and the Reverbs in that where killer. When I got the Hall of Fame brand new last year, I was having a ball with Tone Print , I went really nutty and got a bunch of TCE pedals with Tone print.

I'm strongly considering the RV-500 but I'm not a heavy Reverb user so the $349 price tag is a bit steep. I'd pay that for a Delay, I use the hell out of Delay, I'm running 2 delay pedals not and I'm considering changing that to the DD-500 which is Midi so it will work perfectly with my Boss ES-8 switcher.

I see many people have one or even 2 on their boards. I never played through one. Interesting setting it up for Delay and reverb. I gotta go check one out.

Re: tc electronics Hall of Fame , now what?

Ok So the Eventide H9 is so interesting, for those who own one I got a few questions
Can you wire it with both In 1 and In 2 and Out 1 and Out 2 to do different things at the same time?
This thing got me thinking if the Delay and reverb or even the chorus effects in it are awesome, I could use 2 Loops on my ES-8 to run 1 with Chorus and another with Delay or Reverb.
If that works and this thing sounds fantastic, then I really need to get my hands on one and try all this out. Midi control is another killer feature as I could change what I want to do with it in what loop and what effect. Wheels are turning over here.

Re: tc electronics Hall of Fame , now what?

H9 is only one algorithm at once. If you want Reverb and Delay, you have to use the algorithm that combines both. That’s why so many people have two.

You can use the In/out either as Stereo In/Out or as Pre/Post In/Out (before and after drives usually, specified per patch).

Man that throws a wrench into my plan. I was really hoping you can run 2 different things at once. O Well I still want to test drive one.
What one is most people using? I see there are 2 offerings one for $399 and one for $699 I think they call that one the max

It depends on how many Algorithms you want/need. You can either buy the basic and buy the algos you need or buy the max with everything. And there's another one in between $499.

The supernatural has a lot of ambient stuff (artificial) but I really like its spring and plate.

Well in the meantime I picked up a Boss RV-6 to compare to the Hall of Fame.

Lol Nice, an in between pedal.

The RV-6 is a great pedal but I think it's in the HOF's league. That said, hopefully it works better for you!

Re: tc electronics Hall of Fame , now what?

It's a tuff call man, both pedals are fantastic in their own right. Room is really close but I give the edge to the RV-6. It just has a realism to it. When using Hall they both sound different to the point where I would have to say which ever one you favor or think your playing in a hall makes sense. The Spring clearly the RV-6 has a huge edge here. It has that wacky spring thing my Twin did and this pedal replays that damn perfectly , The HOF does it's own version of spring maybe a British version I assume. Plate is another form of reverb that I guess I'll say pick one. Both pedals do a fantastic job here. I got lost in my playing using both pedals for about 3 minutes each so that tells me there is no clear winner here. Mode Shimmer Delay Dynamic etc all the other wacky reverbs between the 2 are unique to themselves. I can't sit here and say which one is better or which one I like better. They both have very useful sounds that I can see creating some really cool spacey ****.

I only had the RV-6 for a few hours but I put that on it and really compared the 2. Right now I'm cool with both being on my board. I put the HOF up for sale but if no one grabs it I'll keep using it. It's a damn good pedal and now that I have something to compare it to, it really shines in it's own right. I will use the Boss for what I like better there and the HOF for other stuff I can come up with. It's nice to have this level of flexibility especially with a pedal switcher like the Boss ES-8. This way you can play around with many different pedals and not darken up your tone. The loops are such a delight I can't see any pedal user not having one. I have my ES-5 up for sale as well and someone who doesn't have a switcher should grab it. It's killer and you can really clean up your signal chain with it. Even if you have more then 5 pedals, you still can share loops and really dig in. Thats how I used it and if I didn't have the ES-8 I would still be very happy with it.

Reverb is something I basically don't use all that often but I have been messing around with the HOF and wanted to explore again.
