TC Viscous Vibe

Re: TC Viscous Vibe

The TC definitely doesn't get lost. Mind you, I also run the volume flat out, and the intensity is usually about 3/4's of the way up, but it sounds great regardless of speed setting.

Re: TC Viscous Vibe

So, what you're saying is I need to get one of these... 'cuz that's what I'm hearing you say...

Re: TC Viscous Vibe

That's just it... so am I (moving, at least, already had the job change).

The only thing keeping me from it is I'm not sure *which house it'd be good to ship it to*. Same with the MojoMojo that's on sale right now... $50 for a good OD... I have multiple ODs, I don't need another one, I don't need another one, I don't need another one...

Nevermind. I'm weak. *sigh*

Based on the clip, who cares how TF they made it.

Sounds bad@$$ and I'm not a vibe guy!

Re: TC Viscous Vibe

Well I suppose I'll find out all I need to know tomorrow night, but mainly I want to know if it sounds as good as my Retro Vibe.

The Retro Vibe is the most transparent, lush, and musical Vibe I've ever heard and once I heard it I was like, "That's IT." But it's expensive and down on tweakability, but that's OK for the sound it yields.

If the TC can do better I'm interested.

I recorded a little clip for you B2D, at a pretty slow speed. Running through my Tubemeister's OD channel set to just about break up. Not the greatest playing, and the sound is not the fullest cuz I was just using my smartphone, but it should give you an idea of how this thing does not get buried at all.

Here are my pedal settings (The Vibe was on the stock "Chorus" setting):

^It ramps up while you're holding down the switch, and when you let go, it gradually ramps the speed down as well.

Thanks for that!! That actually doesn't sound half bad considering it's a quickie recording on a cell phone. I can still hear the texture through the phone.

Did you get into the deeper editing with the Toneprint feature at all, or is that sound just the result of knob twisting?

that sound was just the stock chorus setting and whatever knob placements were in the photo.

I haven't played around with the toneprint too much, but i did create a sorta faux-tremolo effect with it, which is what i use instead of an actual tremolo pedal. There are a LOT of different tweakable parameters in the toneprint editor though and if the stock setting isn't doing it for you, I'm quite sure that you can find something you like using the toneprint.

Re: TC Viscous Vibe

Ok, so I sat down with it after work today and holed up in the Loud Lounge at the local GC and my buddy that works there gave me a TC Viscous Vibe and I put it up next to my JAM Pedals Retro Vibe

We all know what the former is... the latter can be seen HERE.

The TC wins for tweakability by a long shot with the Toneprint editor and face options.

As for sound quality - the JAM still wins, but not by much and even that might be subjective. The JAM has a slight midrange bump that makes the effects stand out, especially when using more gain. The TC is more transparent and doesn't boost or cut any particular frequency too much.

I have a feeling that if I got into the Toneprint Editor and further tweaked the pedal it could be made to sound almost just like my JAM pedal.

At any rate it's one of the best Vibe pedals I've ever heard. I'll keep my JAM Retro Vibe... for now. ;) :D No telling what's gonna happen when I get into the deep edit stuff. Keep in mind the JAM is $350 brand new and the TC is more than two hundred dollars less and sounds very close.

Keep the real vibe.

As good as modeling can sound, it often lacks things that a real analog circuit has, which can be anything from the feel to how it interacts with other circuits in the chain.

Well tone is tone and I try to trust my ears as much as I can.

The JAM also has two internal trimmers for intensity and level that I've not tweaked yet.

Re: TC Viscous Vibe

I wonder how the TC compares to the new EHX Good Vibes.
