Tech 21 fans

The new character series has speaker simulation buttons on them. I guess it started happening recently? I've owned 2 of them and neither had them. Cool feature though, sounds like an overdrive pedal with it off into an amp. :) Not so much a preamp punching unit for use into a PA. Much more useful and a nice feature to have.

Re: Tech 21 fans

I have the oxford and the vt bass, both have speaker sims, they have been selling em with speaker sims since 2010

I do not like the speaker sims for recording, but I can see the benefit if you are in a pinch and going direct in to the mixing board. I use impulses for recording, and things sound tons better with impulses to my ears

Re: Tech 21 fans

Cool. I know my sansamp was a late 90s one, supposedly better than the newer ones and I had a Vox one at one point. The liverpool I think they were called... anyway... I like Tech 21. They are a good company and they make good stuff. :)

Re: Tech 21 fans

i use the bass one. The speaker sim is built into the ovedrive/presence circuit. You can dial it in using a mix knob. i leave it on full even tho i'm going into the bass amp from there cos it makes a great sound for the Direct to desk. it works great with a bass amp i guess cos bass amps are so clean and flat.

Re: Tech 21 fans

I have the Tech 21 British series with the emulation switch, but I don't use it..Just run mine straight into a clean Fender/Marshall...Great products!
