Teese wah's... Who's in the know?

I have a space set out for a wah on my pedal board and I really want a Teese. I've listened to the soundbites and I've read up on 'em and I think they sound great. Can anyone educate me a bit more on these? I'm mainly interested in the difference between the wizard, picture and RMC2. So far I'm lookin' at the RMC2 due to the selection of sounds. Anyone have any pearls of wisdom?

I think someone's selling a Teese Wizard Wah in the Trader section. If I didn't already have a Fulltone Clyde Deluxe, I'd be all over that.

The Picture Wah is supposed to be the ultimate Vox, I believe. It's straight up vintage if you're looking for the Hendrix and White Room sounds. The RMC series is like a modified vintage wah, you get more of a vocal effect, more bass, etc. I think as you go up, you get more controls to dial in your sound. The RMC-2 sounds like the 535Q, as far as controls go, and the RMC-3 is fully controllable (Like the BYOC kit). The Wizard wah is supposed to be the ultimate high gain with humbuckers wah.

I don't have any first hand experience, but I think the RMC-2 is a good choice, for it's versatility. Even though he says you should go with the Wizard if you have HBs, I bet you can make the RMC-2 work well. You might give up the "perfect" vintage wah sound, but I think you can get close enough. Not to mention, the RMC has the buffer so it plays well with fuzzes and other temperamental effects.

I've got an RMC1, which Geoffrey customized to unity gain, because they normally have about a 6dB boost. I've owned quite a few wahs and tried many more, but this is easily the best. Smooth right through the range with just the right degree of sweep, you can set it anywhere in it's range and get a great sound. You will get more control with the RMC2, and if you want the true original Italian made wah sound, get the Picture Wah. Geoffrey is a great guy to talk to and what he doesn't know about wahs isn't worth knowing. You can't go wrong.

The RMC 1 is a great hot rodded wah but if you're using humbuckers stop right there. It's designed to be used with singel coils. The RMC 2 has a external volume knob instead of an instant boost like the RMC 1 along with a "Q" control knob, it also has a 11 postion knob that extends the range and sound of the wah. The Wizard wah is designed especially for humbucker equiped guitars. The Picture wah is, as mentioned above, the ultimate Clyde McCoy wah, great for Hendrix, SRV and everything in the middle. Tesse ultimate wah is the RMC 3 which had internal pots and trimmers that can change the wah sound on several different levels even at which point the pitch shifts. Geoffrey also has the Wheels of Fire wah out now, it use to be a custom order but he's now offering it as a regular line wah....think Clapton's wah from White Room off the ...you guessed it Wheels of Fire album.

I've been torn between the RMC2 and the Wizard myself, I've decided I'm going to go with the Wizard first and if doesn't do the trick I'll go for the RMC2. I'm using a Duncan Distortion in the bridge so the Wizard will probably be the right choice for me. Plus, it's red and looks bad ass! :headbang:

I use a RMC 3 with the internal switches setup for SRV tone.

Best buy in Wahs, I know because I used to own several other brands looking for the right one.

Is it that big of a difference playing an RMC2 on HB's, or is it a minor setback?

You won't have a problem with an RMC2 and HB's, it's only the RMC1 which is recommended for SC's because it has a darker voicing which can't be altered. You have plenty of tonal options with the RMC2, and you will be able to dial in a voicing to suit your guitar(s).

I've got the Wizard. I also have a Buddha Bud and a Morley Bad Horsie v1. I haven't found a wah to kick the Wizard off my board. It sounds great for high gain applications.

I'm considering the wizard wah after I sell my gibbo amp and crybaby classic. I never played a teese wah and I just wanted a great wah sound for my les pauls - preferably modern sounds: not as fuzzy as those old vox tones, more clean headroom, more sweep, better with humbuckers. Looking for the heavy wah tones of haynes and slash, not as much the saught after cream type stuff. I think I'll be going that route in the near future so I am definitely interested in what is going on in this thread (just to throw that out there)! And just to throw this into the discussion - for those who have played the wizard wah, how is it for clean tones? You mainly see it in the high gain situation so i was just wondering...

I've got an RMC-3, and it's great. The only thing I prefer about the RMC-2 design-wise is that the controls are on the outside of the wah. You have to open the RMC-3 to tweak the values, which is a bit of a pain when deciding which settings you prefer. However, Geoff has a list of settings for various responses to emulate the likes of Hendrix, SRV, Shaft, etc.

the wizard is NOT like the Area 51. the Area 51 is like the picture wah by Teese. that was my runner up choice the picture wah but i went Area 51 instead and couln't be happier!! the wizard is more suited towards modern high gain playing and not a "do it al" classic sounding wah. it's the Teese version of the modern wah for lack of a better term.
