Tele Bridge AntiquityII vs '55 Antiquity

Hi All
i am sure this question has been asked on here before but i cant seem to find it on the search.
i got a couple of old Tele's and a Junior but as i fly quite alot i have built up a Mutt Tele for flying with. it has an early Duncan Vintage Bridge pick up which i am not overly pleased with but its ok. i recently bought a Antiguity bridge P90 to sit just in front of the bridge to give a sense of a Junior as i dont get to fly with two guitars. this antquity is stunning, so much so that i want to replace the bridge Tele with either a Antquity 55 or Antiguity II `60s Bridge (this tele has a maple neck)
my question is can anyone describe what the two pickups sound like compared to each other. i wont want the hassle of the 30 day swop as i am in the UK but if anyone can give me a bit of a flavour i will be most gratful
:newbie:
cheers
Baz

Re: Tele Bridge AntiquityII vs '55 Antiquity

This won't be of much value for a couple of reasons; one, I don't "play out", and two, the I'm not sure I can describe the difference. I had the Antiquity II first. Then I swapped with someone on TDPRI for the '55. I liked the '55 better, but they're both very close. So close, in fact, that I'm not sure I could describe the difference after all this time. The '55 just seemed to have a tiny bit more girth. But not much more. I just liked it better. Its what I have now.

You can't go wrong with either.

P.S. The person on TDPRI like the II better. So much so that they bought mine. I used that money to get the '55.
(Let me rephrase that.) They liked the II just as much. They bought my II and kept their '55 also. ;)

Hi Artie too
thanks for that, it is really helpful. its great to hear from some one that has run both. i will proberly have to get both . my gut feeling was to go for the `55 but the blurb on the Ant II sounds great as well.
nice one

I figured there'd be a more noticeable difference between the Ant I '55 and the Ant II bridge. The '55 is A2 (I have one of these) and has some "chewiness" to the sound when you dig in, but not the soft pretty sound that something like the A2P tele bridge has.

I'd think the Ant II being A5 would sound harder & brighter, less airy. Plus, the II's supposed to be fully wax potted, whereas the Ant I and '55 are only partially potted (i.e. the baseplate's not wax potted).

I've been wanting to try an Ant II for a long time-- but lucked into an Ant '55.

What amp & effects are you using, Artie?

Re: Tele Bridge AntiquityII vs '55 Antiquity

I use a Hughes & Kettner Edition Blues 60, but I also play over at my friends place who has an H & K Edition Tube 20th Anniv. The difference isn't all that much until you start to get loud. (Then the "tube" reigns supreme!)

I think that part of the reason that I didn't notice much difference between the two, is because the difference between either, and regular Duncans is so noticable. I was listening to the "antiquity" rather than the model difference. The Antiquity's just have an "air" and complexity that sets them apart from the "normal" line.

I'm not trying to sell Antiquity's. Its just the best I can describe what I heard.

Re: Tele Bridge AntiquityII vs '55 Antiquity

If the Ant II also has that "air" then I still may end up checking it out-- there's just something about the Ant stuff I've tried so far (Ant I and Ant '55 bridge) that just sounds really, really musical.
