Tele bridge

Who makes the nicest (cost is not an issue right now) humbucker-routed, string-through body Telecaster bridge out there?

Re: Tele bridge

... or would I be more likely to find quality just using a bucker ring and a hardtail Strat-type bridge?

Re: Tele bridge

Was thinking this but I think the hard tail strat bridges have a different bolt pattern that may give you trouble. I think the tele uses 3 and hard tail strats use 4, could be wrong though

Re: Tele bridge

Hmm... thanks for the info! I think I'll be going with the Gotoh, I've had great luck with their stuff in the past.

Re: Tele bridge

Well, the nicest one is made by www.vintique.com. I don't know if they can make a humbucker bridge, but if money's no object, it might be worth giving them a call. Or get a SC sized humbucker.

Re: Tele bridge

try taking a look at Allparts site ... I'm sure they have what you need, and yes, it's probably made by Gotoh

then find someone who carries Allparts stuff to order it for you

The Gotoh parts are good quality. If you want it to sound like a tele with a humbucker, I suggest buying a humbucking tele bridge instead of a strat hardtail. The "floating" bridge plate has a lot to do with the tele tone.

Re: Tele bridge

Just remember - there's no going back. A standard Tele bridge WILL NOT cover a humbucker route. The pockets for the HB's mounting ears stick out the sides. Once an HB Tele, always an HB Tele. (Do you sense that this is a "learn from experience" kinda thing?)

I bought one like this from GuitarFetish recently. They usually give you a choice of auctions - buy it now, or wait for an auction to close and save a few bucks. Available in chrome, gold, or black. Seems like a good bridge, but I haven't yet installed it on my Schecter PT.

Haha, I know. This is a long-term guitar. It was my first "real" electric, and it's not being played in it's current form which makes me sad. So, I'm modding the hell out of it so I can play it again.

Re: Tele bridge

I ordered one from GuitarFetish for my next project. It was 17.95 (for the gold) - less than half what Warmoth wanted. It will be here early next week. I could tell you if it looks cheap when it gets here, but I won't be able to try it for 5-6 weeks - waiting for a custom body from Warmoth.

Re: Tele bridge

I bought the Guitarfetish $16 bridge in chrome, but I wasn't impressed. I don't like the saddles, or the finish (a lot of rough edges), and I failed to notice the different screw hole setup (3 in the back, 2 in the front).

So, I bought the Gotoh from Guitarpartsresource LLC, and its definitely worth the extra $30 to me.
