i've been an LP/Strat player mostly, but recently i've been gassing over Tele's for some reason.... someone talk me out of it before i go and buy one!

Re: Tele GAS...

Tele's are amazing guitars. You should get one. You won't regret it. I've recently posted a thread about how much I love my Tele even more than my Strat these days.

...not that I'd presume to tell you what you should do (get one). Far be it from me to pretend to understand the complexities of your life and financial means (do it, you know you want to).

Re: Tele GAS...

I'd take a Tele over a Strat any day, way more mojo! Plus I love ash and that bridge is one of the all time great designs in terms of the way it transmits the string vibrations through the body.

Lovely avatar btw Lobster, I love Edward Hopper

LP/Strat player you say? HERE's my idea of a Strat and an LP:

Sorry if that's no help.

this message makes me want a Tele more...i wonder why?

Re: Tele GAS...

Although mine's not strictly a Tele I'm really loving it. It's a hybrid, Tele shape but with tummy cut and forearm profile of a strat, H/S/S, Floyd, lightweight ash body and birdseye maple neck. Tele purists will frown on it, but this guitar does the business. I had a G&L ASAT too, it was a monster but the slab body just didn't fit me at all, the tummy cut makes one hell of a difference for me. Go get your Tele.......

Re: Tele GAS...

I'm also GASing for a Tele. It would take a while but I know I'm going to get one.

After I'll get an ash and maple fretboard model I'll probably be GASing for one with a rosewood fretboard, I just love the way they look but I do prefer to play a maple board. :scratchch
I also love them with binding and without binding, need to have one of both. And an Esquire and a Tele-Gib. :eyecrazy:

<<head explodes>>

Re: Tele GAS...

Nowt wrong with a Tele, although my jap made seventies fake is far from a great guitar, still fun to play.

It's the little voice in your head. Trust it.

Here's a pic of mine. Her name's Veronica. Nothing too super special except for the Lace Sensor in the neck (actually sounds super warm and clear. Very nice). She's sister to my strat, Buttercup.

Re: Tele GAS...

Telecasters are guitars that require "real playing". They don't hide your mistakes and make you work for every note and tone you get out of them. They are either loved or hated. The haters are usually the players who either never tried them or couldn't cut the mustard on them and gave up.

For a traditionally 2-pickup, single coil guitar, they are extremely versatile and will allow you to move into virtually any genre of music and do it with style and a flare only a Telecaster can give.

IMHO, they are the guitars that are the most fun to modify. My main Telecaster has gone through so many face-lifts and pickup changes it's not funny. My current iteration is in my signature. How long will it stay like that? I don't know; but it's all fun....

Re: Tele GAS...

For those who've not had the misfortune to see my utterly fake seventies made MIJ tele, here it is :)

Re: Tele GAS...

It's just something every guitarist goes through...they buy a guitar hey thats nice..buy another..and another...and then they finally realise that a tele will do it all.
