Tele, perfect modern/emo guitar?

Re: Tele, perfect modern/emo guitar?

The funny thing about emo is that it is known to be emotional rock but compared to real rockers there is no emotion just REALLY bad acting trying to be all sad and angry. Now blues thats a genre that shows emotion!

Blues aint sh1t compared to country in terms of emotion.

I love this $800 Fender Tele I was playing at GC the other day. In my opinion, to play modern music, go with an SG or LP (sg better for that genre, imo. Look at Taking Back Sunday). A telecaster is for a nice cranked amp that's overdriven. Bands such as Saves The Day, Minus The Bear, and bands like that which use excellent clean tones and come back for a bitting guitar solo with hard OVERDRIVE.

But like mentioned before, you can use any guitar to play any genre. I grabbed a BC Rich the other day and played Jazz next to a metal head. He turned around and gave me a WTF look, and then I busted out Master Of Puppets and he smiled. Do what you will, it's ultimately up to the played to be the mood setter and not the guitar. IMO, I'd play metal with a hollowbody (and I think I saw the guitarist from KoRn with one, not sure) and there's nothing wrong with that.

They're a good band but I would hardly label them as "Emo." They have more of a POP PUNK type sound.

pop punk?? naa!

try and find 'jet black new year'.. pop punk is one of the last genres in my mind when i hear thursday!

You can do pretty much anything with a tele. I love 'em.
