Tele pickup upgrade

Hello everyone. I have read the forum a couple times and decided to get some help. I have about a 10yr. old mexican tele my wife bought me for my birthday 7yrs ago. she picked it herself, gotta love her for it. anyway it has and alder body and maple fretboard, red lace sensor singlecoil shape in the bridge and a blue/silver lace sensor humbucker in the bridge. it came this way I have made no mods to it, was bought used by the way. My issue is being a hard blues/rocker I have not been a fan of its twang from the red lace sensor and it doesn't seem to have much beef in the mid/top end. I am considering the lil 59 for the tele bridge because all my heroes(clapton, Gibbons,Slash,) played 59 LP's. I play anything from Jesus Left Chicago, Red House to Enter Sandman,Back in Black and would like to know what might be a good choice. The neck tone is not too bad would like more warmth and sustain and am wondering if a pearly gates would be nice. I am a fan of Joe Bonamassa and really work my tone and volume for the sounds I need. Thank you all for any help you can provide, Brady.

Sounds to me like you may want a humbucker you can tap as a single-coil. Listen to the humbucker clips on Seymour Duncan's main site to get an idea of the different pickup tones, then tell us which ones strike your fancy. We can work with you from there.

Don't hold back when it comes to pickups...get the best you can afford. Personally, I think the very best from Duncan Pickups are the Duncan Custom Shop alnico 2 Tapped Tele Hot (both vintage chime tones and hot thick lead tones) and the alnico 5 "Tele ala Strat" neck pickup for as close to the tone of a nice vintage Strat pickup as you'll get from a Tele size neck pickup.

Duncan Antiquitys are great too...I like both types: the alnico 2 Antiquity I (warmer/more mids) or alnico 5 Antiquity II (brighter/twangier)

Or the standard alnico 5 Tele Hot tapped bridge and either the Broadcaster neck or Hot neck.

Re: Tele pickup upgrade

I have searched the site and so far as a bridge pup I am interested in the lil 59 for tele and the hot rails.Wondering how either of these are in producing pinch harmonics. to clarify i am basically trying to get a LP tone out of a tele. I am not a big twangy fan. the Alnico 2 pups sound really close to the red lace sensor I have already. Though I have not yet found a neck humbucker yet what is a good match for the 59 or the hot rails. the pearly gates sounded good on the site but leaves me curious of a solo tone that gives good sustain. I'm trying to describe as clear as I can to what I'm looking for. thanks, everyone.
