Not quite the same thing, but I have set of BKP Piledriver's in my thinline tele and they slay.

CajunBlues, I've done this, I did a project with a friend where we just grabbed random parts and threw them together, a Japanese hollow body, fender neck (they're easy to get) and you guessed it, tele pickups (both were the neck model). The sound has a real bite to it, especially in the bridge, in the neck it's good and smokey, and doesn't get muddy. I have an older picture of it, but no video unfortunately. https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/730_10151183194043233_817304306_n.jpg
I'd say go for the project as I've used the same adapter rings!

I think it's a great idea; but then, I once duct-taped a Strat pup into an acoustic for the hell of it. Sounded great, though. Hollow bodies just have so much bottom end that even P-90s seem like an overkill.
