Tele Plus v2

Borrowing a late 90’s Tele Plus V2 from a friend, possibly to buy. It’s the 3 pickup version, with the Lace Sensor Tele pickups, and a Strat in the middle. Haven’t used Lace in a long time, but it sounds killer. The bridge and neck are relatively hot, kinda beefy but still Tele. Middle is a great Strat pickup, and all are noiseless.

Anybody have any experience with these? Plays and sounds great, if he decides to sell, I’m probably gonna buy it.

ive played a tele plus deluxe. had a red dually in the bridge and maybe blue lace sensor neck with a trem. good neck and was a good sounding and playing guitar. i assume the v2 is similar with different pups

I’ve never played the other versions, but this one has a slightly chunkier neck than my ‘87 Standard Strat had. It’s alder, ash veneers, maple board, and has a tummy cut.

5 way switch, plus a mini to get neck/bridge or all 3. The mini being between the knobs makes it tough to grab the volume knob, so I’d likely do something about that.

These are not the typical red/silver/blue Laces, but I remember digging that set in my first real Fender Strat.

It’s not a purist’s guitar, but all 3 pickups sound great and the neck feels really nice. It’s got that nasty poly gloss, so I’m imaging how great it’ll be oiled and waxed.

yeah t100 pups or something on that one? the one i played had a tummy cut too and same finish but a 3 way tele style switch but a mini switch for either coil or both of the dually. cool guitar for sure

After polishing the frets and doing a setup, I’m gonna have to talk him into selling it to me. The only changes I think I’d make are replacing the pearl guard with black/white/black, and stripping/oiling the neck. Probably old school Fender tuners too.

Obviously I’m going to reverse the control plate, too, because that’s what you do with a Tele :)

Seems sweet to me. If you want the traditional neck+bridge Tele combo, just rewire the switch and swap two of the leads.

Been playing the hell out of this Tele. Don’t know why Lace Sensors get such a bad rep. It has a TBX tone control, been playing with the Princeton model on my Mustang III. Have it dialed in for a very clear, punchy tone with the TBX on the decent, then can crank it for extra twang. They’re a great combo.

They don't deserve a bad rap. They just don't sound like pickups that were designed in the 1950's and that we're used to hearing.

I've been using a Lace pickup on my National Resonator. Sounds good!

You have a Mustang III? So do I.

Great little amp. Loud and super versatile too.

Got it a few months ago, $125 from a guy on Craigslist or Facebook. Haven’t really got to open it up yet, but it’s a killer amp. Sounds just as good with the Rectifier model and my 8 string as with a Strat or Tele on the Princeton, and anything in between. Great onboard effects, too. I really love the multi tap delay on the 2-3 setting.
