Tele vs Iceman

I'm planning on building my first guitar sometime soon, but I can't decide which I like more, the Ibanez Iceman body style, or the Fender Telecaster.

Tele will make your life easy for parts, measuring, help etc. since there a billion teles built by amateurs like us.

Well.. Id say which do you like better or would you rather have??? I voted Iceman cuz I personally like Iceman shape and dual buckers better. BUT.... Thats MY preference

You can buy a million different varieties of tele off the shelf, but building an iceman gives you the option of creating something that might otherwise be very difficult to find.

I have done a couple of Iceman builds it is not difficult to find new or vintage parts for them. The most difficult thing to find is OEM necks but they are out there.

To be clear here, what this poll is for is just for the body shape. Either way it's getting the strat pickup configuration.

You can do a Tele in any configuration you want and it will be OK!

Yes if one was doing a Paul Guilbert knock off, but the body shape
does not lend itself to the countless configurations that a Tele body
can do so eloquently.

I misread the title, seeing it as Tele Vs Aceman, and was sat here thinking "my, that's a bit harsh!"

Voted Tele. The Iceman looks horrible to my eyes... Which of course see wtf they like judging by my inability to read a thread title correctly :-S

i think an iceman setup like a strat (no pickguard obviously) could be very cool and unique. when you are building from scratch you can do what ever you want. people have done teles with all sorts of configurations but theres no reason you couldnt apply all that to a different body shape

Anybody else find that the tele body shape is the most disgusting, boring shape? I literally can't stand the shape. Anyone have certain shapes that trigger a deep disdain?

I used to hate teles, now I love them.

For the most part, I can't stand the Iceman shape. To me it just looks pretentious. I can't help but see some guy in leather pants prancing around singing 'Lick It Up'.

But that's just me and my tastes and prejudices, which to me begs the question - why do you care what someone else would rather have, unless you're looking to sell?
