Raging BB Gunologist
I'm thinking about getting a Tele.
I usually run the gain on my Recto around 10:30 (vintage high gain). Tube rectifier, spongy power, then turn it up as loud as I reasonably can to get some compression out of the power amp and speakers.
My Les Paul (PAF type) provides its inherent tone (which I love), but there's always a certain mud present, which I think is just the inherent nature of humbuckers. It a nice, thick sound when riffing/soloing, but can loose clarity if I add too much to it.
When I switch to my other Les Paul (P90) there's a certain clarity when chording. I can hear individual strings with more clearly and I can increase effects density without everything mushing together.
With this in mind I want to see where a Telecaster will take me. Problem is, I don't know jack sh*t about Teles. I don't know which models I should be looking at, not do I know which specs are important to me... Alder vs ash, maple vs rosewood, three saddle vs six saddle bridge, pickups?
I do know I need something that'll do well with high gain, but I don't think I need a really hot Tele. I already have guitar's that can push the amp.
