Telecaster HB/Single coil wiring issue (resistor)

To my MiM Tele I have added a Seth Lover in the neck and SD Jerry Donahue in the bridge. I have followed the wiring as attached here.

The HB sounds sweet and I believe is the best humbucker sound I've ever heard.

Nevertheless, the bridge pickup sounds a bit harsh. I have tried adding a 470 ohm resistor between the lead wire of JD and the ground (on the volume pot) like in the Fralin diagram and the sound gets thin and barely audible in both positions involving the bridge pickup.

Anyone have any clue what I'm doing wrong with the resistor?

Sounds like the bridge pickup is out of phase with the other pickups.

Try swapping the ground and hot wires

A 470 ohm resistor parallel with a 500k pot brings the overall resistance lower than that. It's like the volume knob is on 1 or lower.
