Telecaster platform for Little '59 & Vintage Stack Tele - Set

Re: Telecaster platform for Little '59 & Vintage Stack Tele - Set

When you say "red hot Tele", do you mean "So hot it doesn't really qualify as a Tele anymore", or "so twangy and surfy it couldn't be anything *but* a Tele"?

'Cuz that's gonna end up in two different ballparks...

Actually, I want both. Will probably have to settle for somewhere in the middle.

Re: Telecaster platform for Little '59 & Vintage Stack Tele - Set

If you're willing to have it not look *exactly* like a Tele, you can probably get pretty close, with the addition of series/parallel switches in some fashion (most likely, push/pull pots).

For which I'd probably suggest a Lil '59 bridge, and maybe a Hot Rails or a QP at the neck, with a coil tap...

Re: Telecaster platform for Little '59 & Vintage Stack Tele - Set

The Lil '59 won't even come close to sounding like a Tele, no matter how it is wired.

A better choice in the bridge would be a Quarter Pound with coil tap. Tapped will give you very good Tele sounds, Full on it will give you red hot Tele sounds and rock. Add overdrive or distortion to make it a fire breather.

You don't think a l'il '59 paralleled would sound Tele-ish?

Re: Telecaster platform for Little '59 & Vintage Stack Tele - Set

I don't really think so, although it will sound more Tele-ish than it on full series. I don't think that was even a consideration when designing it. It is a great sounding pickup, it just doesn't do all things.
