Tell me everything about the Blues Jr!

Re: Tell me everything about the Blues Jr!

you're right blonde/oxblood...that's what i meant:eek13:

here's Billm's reply to my question about the ohms...

"Your math is right, but the Blues Junior handles a 4 ohm load just fine. Fender did that in the Two-Tone, a BJr chassis in a cab with a 10 inch and a 12 inch speaker, both 8 ohms, in parallel.

The rule of thumb with tube amps is that you can have 100 percent mismatch and still be OK, so 4 or 16 are OK, too. But tube amps are generally happier with lower impedance than higher.

- Bill"

what do you guys think?

BillM's BJ stack looks really cool. I could handle having that if it's really as good as he says. I don't have any reason to doubt him...has anyone seen a couple extra BJ's sitting idle anywhere that I could pickup really cheap? :)

There's a guy sitting 4 feet from me who has a nice clean (black) BJ for sale. Sez he wants $250.

Re: Tell me everything about the Blues Jr!

sounds right to me...now all I have to do is find a blonde/oxblood cabinet that looks just like a blonde blues junior like he has! :(

Re: Tell me everything about the Blues Jr!

if you find one let me know :fingersx:
as popular as they are you'd think somebody would make some kind of aftermarket one already...maybe i'll do a search tomorrow when i have time?!

Re: Tell me everything about the Blues Jr!

hey man, you search and I'll search too...you find one first, let me know, I find one first, I'll let you know...we're both on a mission from god!

If only I didn't have to spend 280 yesterday to replace a radiator in my Villiager. Rats. Hopefully he'll still have it to sell in 6 months.:)

I noticed that but they don't have pictures! I don't know what they look like, what their dimensions are.....I'm kinda picky that this cab has to look just like the blues jr. :)

Re: Tell me everything about the Blues Jr!

i saw that about the avatars...that's more than likely the route i'd go...i'm too cheap to probably get one custom built!?

the clean boost and the tone stack mods look the most appealing to me...i could see those happening sometime in the future?!

For the record....before the mods the amp was decent. After the mods the amp was a keeper.

I did the tone stack, the reverb mod and the presence/brightness mod.

Totally different beast!

Re: Tell me everything about the Blues Jr!

Crusty Cabs quoted me $235 plus shipping for an empty cab specifically made to look like the one that the guy has on that website only in Blonde/Oxblood. That's not a bad price. Though, that's roughly how much I paid for the amp itself! :)

Re: Tell me everything about the Blues Jr!

yeah...i figured it would cost as much as the amp...when i get serious about getting one though i might as well get one custom built...that would be sweet!!!
